Philosophies and Approaches
Approach to Medication Management
I take a careful, thoughtful approach to medication management using evidence-based practices with the goal of using the least amount of medication necessary to address the issue at hand.
I emphasize a holistic approach that incorporates other non-pharmacological strategies, such as exercise, nutrition, sleep hygiene, and social support. Medications are most effective when combined with lifestyle changes and therapeutic practices that address the whole person.
Approach to Psychotherapy
I offer a range of therapeutic modalities, including Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. These evidence-based therapies allow patients to address deep-seated emotional challenges, build new coping strategies, and navigate unhealthy thought patterns or behaviors in a trauma-informed approach.
A key part of therapy involves helping individuals examine their values and explore how those values align, or don't align, with their current life choices, relationships, and goals. By focusing on personal values, patients can understand what truly matters to them, which in turn helps create a more intentional and purposeful life.
Inclusive Environment
I provide culturally sensitive care and strive to create an inclusive, respectful environment where individuals from all backgrounds feel welcome. I am especially committed to providing affirming care to those in the LGBTQIA+, kink, and polyamorous communities. All patients, regardless of identity, should feel fully supported and validated in their journey toward greater self-understanding and healing.
